The iPhone could soon be carried by Japan's largest carrier.

Apple has media events planned for Cupertino and Beijing next week , and it also looks like there'll be good news from Japan soon.
VentureBeat reported, citing sources at the Nikkei, that Japan's largest carrier, Docomo, will soon begin carrying the iPhone.
Docomo, which has 53 million subscribers, has long resisted the iconic Apple smartphone, but has lost ground in recent years to rivals KDDI and SoftBank, which do carry the iPhone.
This might not seem like a big deal, but now that the U.S. market has reached saturation, market penetration overseas, particularly in Asian markets, has become a priority for Apple. The company needs to grow in these markets to deliver the growth investors expect, so the fact that it's successfully adding carriers means its executing on that mission.
