2011 Fantasy Football Sleepers: Five Players That ... - Fantasy Sports

The 2011 NFL season is quickly approaching and many fantasy football fans are preparing a draft strategy, in hopes of winning it all. While mock drafts allow the fantasy football fan to scour the usual players, they rarely account for the sleepers. A sleeper pick is a player that comes out of nowhere to become a valuable player to fantasy owners.

Last year it was Arian Foster of the Houston Texans that surprised the fantasy world and emerged as a top player. This year he is considered a No. 1 draft pick in many leagues. Picking that sleeper pick in your fantasy football league could make all the difference. Here is a look at some players that should be considered sleeper picks for the upcoming season.

Sam Bradford St. Louis Rams

Sam Bradford emerged as a solid quarterback a year ago, and this year he could even get better. Josh McDaniels is his new offensive quarterback and he installs a pass happy offense that succeeded in New England and made Kyle Orton a passing machine in Denver. Bradford was among the most happy signal callers a year ago and with a healthy receiving core he will be a threat again this year.

Ryan Mathews San Diego Chargers

Fantasy owners got burned banking on Ryan Mathews a year ago, as he was lost to an injury. This year he is healthy and he has the potential to be a top running back in the league. When he returned from injury he amassed 296 rushing yards and five scores. Tolbert will share some playing time early and that will let Matthews slip in the draft making him a steal late.

Matt Forte Chicago Bears

Matt Forte has been the one constant bright spot on the Bears offense. Forte always plays through injuries and he has never put up less than 1400 yards. With Jay Cutler under pressure, Forte will be the safety outlet and get plenty of catches. Forte should be considered a top tier running back this season.

Jacoby Ford Oakland Raiders

With the messy quarterback situation in Oakland it?s hard to take a flier on any Raider receiver. However, Ford is the real deal. His speed makes him impossible to cover and he is a nightmare for defenses. He is a deep threat that can get a huge chunk on one play and the Raiders love the deep ball. With Zach Miller gone, look for a big year from Ford.

Julio Jones Atlanta Falcons

When it comes to sleeper picks, the rookies always get an in-depth look. The Atlanta Falcons have promised more passing this year and they gave up the future to acquire Julio Jones. Roddy White will get double coverage on the other side of the field and Jones should put up big numbers in his rookie year. This rookie may go early with all the hype he has gotten and it will be for a good reason.

This is just a few of the players that could be considered great sleeper picks, but they are certainly not the only ones. Researching deep into your draft is sure to make you a winner when the season is over.
