OK, Who Actually Voted for Mitt Romney? (ContributorNetwork)

COMMENTARY | While Mitt Romney won in New Hampshire by a substantial margin, the media is rife with reports on just how much people dislike the man. Romney took about 39 percent of the votes in New Hampshire, according to CNN. With so many voicing negative opinions contrasted with the candidate's performance at the polls a serious question should be asked: Who is actually voting for Romney?

Evangelical Christians apparently don't like Romney very much. They're convening a meeting to discuss who might be a better option, according to the New York Post. Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (a far-right evangelical lobbying group and think tank ) said, "It's not fair to characterize it as a 'Stop Romney' meeting. It's a meeting over who is acceptable and who is not. People are looking for a true conservative." In other words, it actually is a "Stop Romney" meeting and evangelicals feel they can judge who is, or is not, acceptable. Romney appears set to make their naughty list.

The Democratic portion of the populace isn't fond of Republican candidates as a matter of course. The tinfoil hat-wearing fringe of the right wing at Front Page Magazine offers a conspiracy theory about the White House controlling the Occupy movement, turning them into Nazi political thugs. I wish I were making that up. Despite the lunacy of such an idea, it is true Democrats and Republicans are political rivals.

US News and World Report published a column outlining the need to, and the method for, stopping Romney. It calls Romney, who advocates strong religious values, elimination of the death tax, reduction of capital gains tax, massive deregulation plans and other right wing values "a liberal." Hard-line Republicans appear not to like Romney much.

The Miami Herald reports some conservatives are voting for Romney not because they believe he is wonderful, but because they feel he might be able to unseat President Barack Obama in November.

If that's the reason Romney has received so many votes so far despite the media painting him as a horrible candidate there must be some very desperate Republicans out there looking for any way possible to beat Obama.
