Data Loss! Ohhh Noooooooo! Now Everything is at Loss ...

Exam Time! I was working day and night on Project just to score a good count. No entertainment! No music! No chat! No movies! Nothing else! All for a week time! I just worked with the thought that I should be out of school with flying colors. One week of Hard work = 0% success. How nice right? It?s all because of the damn old personal computer that I had. Yeah, Data Loss! I lost my project at the last moment.

What can be more frustrating than working hard for days together on a project just to discover a corrupted file or the data being lost forever? It would be more depressing when you get know that there is no way to recover your loss. Imagine I had to start it all over again and the worst part is that I even didn?t have any back links for the information I collected. Oh No! Another week?s time with no entertainment, music, chat, movies and all! That?s it. I am done even if I am out of exam. I can?t work again for sure.

Put the matter of exams aside. Right now what I want to know is ?What is Data loss?? ?Can?t I ever get the data back?? ?Do we have any Computer help for Data loss problem??
The list of questions seems to be never ending. But what about solutions? There should be some computer help by some computer freak. I started to surf through internet about Data Loss.

Data Loss is an error in information systems. The information is destroyed due to negligence in storage, transmission or processing. These information systems implement some disaster recovery equipment and backup processes to restore lost data or prevent data loss. There are different types of data loss like ?
?Intentional Action
?Unintentional Action
?Failure
?Disaster
?Crime

Intentional loss can be by intentional deletion of a file or program. I suppose it to be something like someone purposely deleting your file. Whereas Unintentional can be either
?Accidental deletion,
?Misplacement,
?Unknown file format,
?Administration errors, etc.

In the case of Failures, data loss has more chances like
?Power failure ? Volatile memory.
?Hardware failure,
?Software crash or freeze,
?Software bugs, and poor usability,
?Business Failure of the Software vendor
?Data corruption, etc.

Disaster can be anything like natural disaster, earthquake, flood, tornado, fire etc. Crime is nothing but Identity theft, hacking, Sabotage, etc. Sometimes data loss occurs due to malicious acts like the worm and viruses.

Whatever it is, Loss is a great loss. There is no use in repenting after losing it. Better to take preventive measures as we say ? ?Prevention is better than cure.? In the case of Data loss prevention, nobody can be 100% guaranteed. To say, preventive measures can have a good impact on the frequency of data loss. For Data loss through Power Failures, you can take the precautions of battery backup. For hardware and software failure you can have RAID storage. Regular backups help in recovering data after loss and has got nothing to do with prevention of Data Loss. Yes, you could a good approach with perfect data protection can have the best possibility in avoiding Data Loss.

Regarding Data recovery, the important point that I should note to recover my project, is that every successful recovery has an effective backup. But in my case, I don?t have any. If there is no backup strategy, then it is better to get computer help from specialized service providers. I was delighted to know that some computer geek can get me my project back and with this when I asked my mum, all that she asked me to do was to put in another week time and do the project again stating it will help me out in my exam. No other go, I had to start with the project once again.
