Deal With The Elephant In The Room

Many people have a subject that they do not want to talk about. They find ways to avoid talking about this subject, such as keeping busy with work that demands their attention, staying active, or going out with friends. The issue is still there, however, and it has not yet been dealt with. People need to deal with their problems so that their lives can be better.

One problem that may need attention is finances. Many people face financial struggles and must find ways to get out of their predicament so that they can pay their bills and live normal lives. A couple facing financial problems must sit down and brainstorm realistic ways to change their situation. One way for a couple to get extra money for their bills is to have a garage sale. They may have items stored in their attic or closets that they are not using that others would like to have, such as CDs, DVDs, or other software, for example. They may also have other items, such as appliances, furniture, or collectibles that others would love to put in their homes. The couple can put up signs a few days in advance, advertising the garage sale to area residents. They can then get up early on the morning of the garage sale and set up the items to be sold. Once the items are set up, they can set up a table and chairs, sit down, and wait for customers to arrive.

As the neighborhood comes alive, the street will get busy with traffic. When people are on their way to work, school, or other places, they may stop and look to see what items are included in the sale. If they find something that they like, and the item is reasonably priced, they may decide to buy it. If the couple is willing to sit and wait until about 6:00 p.m., they may be able to sell many items and earn some money. Finances are not the only issue that people must deal with, however.

A high school student may be struggling in one of his classes. When his parents ask how school is going, he may lie and say "Fine." They will learn a different story at the parent-teacher conference, however. They might learn from the teacher that the student has been getting low grades on his tests. They can then talk to him about studying together. That way, he can get his grades up, and he will not have to lie when people ask how he is doing in school.

When people can be open and honest and can learn to deal with their problems, they can be happy. Being happy will likely help to keep them healthy. They can then live a good life.
