HAMLIN, N.Y. -- A Florida, Mass. man was charged in a Monroe County, N.Y., stabbing last week that hospitalized one victim.

Adam Richardson, 39, was arraigned Sept. 16 in Hamlin, N.Y., Town Court on charges of first degree burglary, first degree robbery, and second degree assault.

According to a release by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Adam Richardson allegedly stabbed Jamie Cushman multiple times in the torso and hit him in the head with a baseball bat.

Police say the alleged victim, 35-year-old Jamie Cushman, of Hamlin, was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for multiple lacerations. They were not life-threatening.

The status of Cushman's health was not available by press time.

Cushman told police Richardson was already in the home waiting for him when he arrived, though he did not how Richardson could have entered.

Cushman told police Richardson exited through the back door after the incident.

A motive for the attack is unclear, according to Monroe County Sheriff's Dept. Cpl. John Helfer.

The Sheriff's Department issued an alert and broadcasted a description of the suspect and his vehicle.

A New York State Police Officer then spotted Richardson in the parking lot of a Post Office in Brockport, N.Y., a neighboring town, according to police. Richardson was arrested on the scene.

Richardson's bail was set as $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond. In lieu of bail, Richardson is being held at Monroe County Jail.
