LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Fellow journalists, prepare thyself for another year of hate-tweeting and fact-checking on HBO's "Newsroom." According to its star, Jeff Daniels, the show will be back for a third season.
"It's official. #Newsroom coming back for a Season 3," tweeted Daniels on Tuesday.
An HBO representative declined to comment at this time.
Although the series has earned itself some criticism for over-dramatizing the work of television journalists (according to TV journalists, of course), the series seemed a shoo-in for renewal.
In addition to its average 2 million viewers per episode, the show has garnered three Emmy nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, a SAG award nomination for Daniels and a Critics' Choice Award.
As a premium cable channel, ratings aren't the only reason HBO would hold on to a show. It also has an idea of the kind of content, the industry acknowledgement and its subscriber retention to factor into the equation.
Possibly, renewal decisions are being made this week as the company announced the end of "True Blood" after its next season earlier on Tuesday.
